What's trending in 2023/2024

Non traditional weddings and statement pieces

Couples are choosing to ditch the traditional wedding theme and opting for something more personal.

Disco balls and sunglasses have caught on quite fast this year but here are some other examples I have seen.

Themed weddings

Rock N Roll Bride have been posting a lot about Halloween weddings and I have also seen a few Vegas themes.

Simpler weddings

I have seen more people ditching wedding favours and choosing to say I do without bridesmaid and groomsmen.

Coloured or patterned wedding dressed and outfits.

There's been a mixture of colours and unique styles I've seen this year and can't wait to see what else people will be choosing for their special day.

Unexpected wedding venues

In recent years more and more couples are stepping away from church weddings and are choosing one venue for their ceremony and reception, or a venue that better suits their personalities. Both Rock N Roll Bride and Rock My Wedding showcase some really great, unique venues.

Wedding Newspapers

These are sneaking into my Instagram feed more and more at the moment. I've seen people include things like the order of the day, a section about how the couple met and their journey together, a message from the bride and groom, details of the wedding party and a crossword or word search. One of the more creative things I've seen included is a guest award section, for example first to RSVP and longest distance travelled to attend.

Colourful weddings

Although a lot of people are still choosing timeless colour schemes like pale pink and purple, or neutrals and minimalist vibes, others are choosing colour and I’m so happy about it.

While I love dreamy pastel coloured florals and the classy neutral style, there’s nothing more exciting than a fun brightly colour wedding.

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of making flowers and accessories for a festival wedding. The bride’s only request was orange roses and colour. See my Instagram post about this here.

Colourful weddings don’t have to mean including all the colours of the rainbow. Here are some trending colour schemes right now.

Alternative photograph styles

Photography isn’t something I know a lot about so I’m not going to pretend I know all the correct terminology. I can say that this year I have seen a larger variety in photograph styles, including blurry shots, editorial, direct flash, and my personal favourites, film and documentary/journalism style.

Check out this is article on The Knot for examples and more info.

Monotype bridesmaid bouquets

This is a trend I love to see! It's basically when each bridesmaid has a bouquet of a single flower type that is incorporated in the bridal bouquet. See this reel from The Flowered Blue on instagram.

Pocket boutonnieres

I’ve been making pocket boutonnieres for well over a year now and was in fact one of the first people to start selling them on Etsy.  I’ve definitely seen an increase in sales since the start of this year.

Most of my pocket boutonnieres are shipped to the US (especially large orders) but in recent months they have become more popular in the UK.

Read more about pocket boutonnieres here or shop here.

Ombré

While the word ombré brings back a flash of hair styles from the 2010's it seems like it's making a come back of the wedding scene. I've seen an increase in popularity for graduating colour tablescapes and florals.
